Checkout Ebooks with Overdrive!

New for 2011-2012, Frisco ISD now has ebooks and audiobooks available for download from Overdrive at http://friscoisd.lib.overdrive.com/. A new, free, reading service, Overdrive allows all schools to connect and share digital books in one place.

You might have tried Overdrive from the Frisco Public Library before and our school library collection works just the same. Use your FISD library id number to download ebooks in pdf format or audiobooks as mp3 files to your computer, smart phone or ereading device.

To begin: Download the Overdrive App to your ipad or smartphone or visit the Overdrive website to download books straight to your computer. When you see a book you like add it to your cart, then checkout with your library id number.
Students and parents can check out two elementary level items at a time for two weeks. Teachers can check out two items from any level. Your computer will automatically return your ebooks at the end of the two week lending period. All FISD schools share the same Overdrive collection, so if a book you want isn't available just be patient - or put it on your wish list and try again later.

Overdrive can be a little tricky the first time you try it, but after you install the required digital software checkouts are a snap. Don't give up - it is worth the work! Use the help features on the Overdrive site or ask Mrs. Hamilton or Mrs. Hodges for help.

Why OverDrive?

The OverDrive collection is an extension of Frisco ISD’s physical library, only instead of being housed in a building it's online with 24/7 access to audiobook and eBook downloads. The Overdrive collection is even available over holidays and school breaks too. Ebooks are convenient for students to check out titles anytime, anywhere with no worry about misplacing a book - these digital titles automatically return at the end of the lending period!

OverDrive can help students of all ages read more and improve comprehension. Struggling or reluctant readers, learning-challenged, second language learners, and gifted readers can all benefit from this service.
• Enrich vocabulary and improve comprehension and pronunciation
• Introduce students to books above their reading level
• Teach critical listening
• Help busy kids find time to read

Happy E-Reading!
