2013-2014 by the numbers...

School's out for summer and we had another great year here at the Purefoy Library.
Though it keeps up extra busy, it's wonderful to work at a school where the students, parents, and teachers place such a high value on reading.

Did you know we have...
15,392 books in the library
632 new books thanks to our district budget and book fair funds
An average of 63 books were checked out per student
235 books circulated each day
4,671 books circulated each month
For a total of 43,982 checkouts
(And 43,982 books put back on the shelves - thanks to the fabulous Mrs. Fox and our great parent and student helpers for keeping the library nice and neat)

1,114 classes visited the library for research, book talks, read-alouds, and author studies.
Who knows how many individual students and small groups for books or research - I'm usually never alone in the library for more than 10 minutes so surely a few thousand more.

Of those 15,392 books there are...
5,342 nonfiction books
3,922 picture books
2,975 novels
987 biographies
551 graphic format books
and lots of other books for teachers and reference too!

Literacy skills and developing lifelong learning habits are the keys to success - thank you to our school community for collaborating to make our library essential and our students successful!
