Attention 4th & 5th Graders: We need you on the Lone Star Challenge Team!

You should join Purefoy's Lone Star Challenge Team!

Compete against other schools on this year's trivia topic: 

A Time of Change, 1910-1919

Nine 4th and 5th graders will be selected for Purefoy's Lone Star Challenge Team. Team members will receive a study book to read at home and meet for practice after school (2:50-3:30 p.m.) in the library on Mondays beginning December 16th. Students selected for the team will compete in multiple choice and essay tests in April, and attend the Super Quiz on May 3rd against 25 other Frisco ISD schools!

Can you help us win?

To join the team:

1. Complete and return the team application with signatures.
2. Submit a handwritten essay (5 paragraph essay) in which you describe in detail three hardships immigrants endured in America’s large cities in the early 20th century. Use the study guide (white packet) to provide you with information. Staple your essay to the application form. Printed copies of the application and study guide are also available in the library. 
3. A Lone Star Team Teacher Recommendation Form will be submitted to your homeroom teacher. Your homeroom teacher will turn this portion of your application in directly to Mrs. Hamilton or Mrs. Denton.
4. If needed, an application test will take place on Wednesday, December 4th during recess. The test will be 20 questions over the material in the application study packet.

After-School Practice Days: Mondays, 2:50-3:30 p.m. 

December 16th, January 6th – April 21st (No practice on school holidays.)
